MISSION STATEMENT: TO ENCOURAGE CONNECTION THROUGH HIGHER CONSCIOUSNESS COOKING AND THE PLEASURES OF THE TABLE
Current Intention: Produce a cooking show for kids, starring kids, that will significantly change the way this generation thinks about their food choices.
Think: The Mickey Mouse Club in the Kitchen complete with upbeat music, fabulous fresh food, easy recipes that use whole ingredients and of course—sponsors with integrity
Bonus: In alignment with the 21st century, the show models collaboration and cooperation rather than competition (Iron Chef/Chopping Block shows are so 20th century! Are we bored yet?)
Barbara Zagata is the chef and proprietor of Santa Barbara Soul Food, originally an organic catering company based on teamwork and earth friendly values. She began teaching children how to cook when asked to volunteer at her son’s alternative school. Since then, Barbara founded Camp Cucina, “A Culinary Crash Course for Teens,” as well as other programs designed to bring families together through inspiring food choices that empower the individual while creating a sense of community.
